Last night we went to eat with some friends who had a baby not too long ago. Anyway, Katie asked me if I was registered at Target, and when I told her I did register for a few things there, she lit up, telling me her experience. She had registered for most everything at Target so she got SEVERAL items from that store and brought them a LOT of business that they would not have had, had she chosen to register somewhere else.
Now...to the return policy. she said #1 most of the employees were HORRIBLE about taking items OFF your registry, so she got SEVERAL duplicate items. #2 if you need to return something and do NOT have a gift receipt and it's NOT been taken off your registry (which is bull crap if it's their fault for not removing it in the first place)....then you can only return 2 items per year w/out a receipt and the items have to be under $25!!! Can you believe that?!? Target will not return items for store credit to KEEP your business there allow you to go buy what you REALLY want (and possibly spend more money in the process). She had a HUGE issue with diapers because you cannot take them back unless you have a receipt...and who usually gives a gift receipt with DIAPERS? They won't even allow you to exchange a none-opened package for a different size! isn't that RIDICULOUS?!?!??! (unless that is one of your 2 returns under $25).
She said someone bought them a bouncy seat thing from target that was close to $70, and they already had gotten something similar, so she took it back, but couldn't return it b/c it is not under $25!! Luckily whoever got it for her still had THEIR receipt and was able to return it but what a hassle!! she also said she got TONS of lotions/powers/etc and couldn't return THOSE for credit b/c she'd already taken her 2 items in.
If I'd realized what a crappy policy they had, I wouldn't have registered for anything there because this is RIDICULOUS! So much for hoping to keep people coming back spending money in their store! It's seriously enough for me to want to ban Target from my shopping list.

that's crazy!! i swear i've taken stuff back to target more than twice a year, this must be a new thing. that really sucks. as much as i HATE walmart (and i mean DESPISE) their return policy is unmatchable. they will take ANYTHING back (even if it wasn't bought from there which i found out when i got some wedding gifts i didn't know what to do with) and just give you a credit based on what you SAID it's worth. crazy huh? maybe you should take your stuff back to walmart that you get from target! hahaha
Yeah... i swear... target is a sneaky little machine that steals your money and then keeps you broke... so why do i love it so? PS.. glad you're not dead.
dude...we need some updated pics of your gut.
lindsay is right, target is SO sneaky. they somehow manage to squeeze at LEAST 50 bucks outta me EVERY time i go in there. even if it's just for a pack of gum or some popcorn for the kids so i can get outta the house. wierd...
I had the same issue a couple months ago...obviously not with baby registries, but they wouldn't even let me exchange a pair of shoes for a different size without a receipt. I had never been so perturbed in my life...especially because I LOVE Target. This used to not be the case with returns, so I don't know what the heck their problem is now!
are u dead?
oh my gosh...i just realized from your timeline that you only have a little over a month left!!!!! how exciting!!! I wish i was that far.. you better post the DAY you get home from the hospital after it all happens!!!! today i find out the sex!! I'm so excited. :)
We have a family friend who hasn't shopped at Target in 7 years because of that policy!!!! No joke.. she stopped cold turkey.. and she doesnt even like it when other people buy her things from there.
